Abeiene is a co-founder of No BS Insights, a customer research consulting firm. She is also working on a “voice of the customer” database to help founders easily access up-to-date audio data on their customers’ feelings to prevent churn.
What’s your most important habit?
Sleep – I’ve cut back on media consumption at night unless it’s listening to “voo” meditation or audiobooks. I noticed a positive impact on my thought process and better moods overall.
What are you reading right now?
Case in Point by Marc P. Cosentino
It’s an interview case study guide for students who want to work at top consulting firms. I want to learn new and different sales techniques, and improve my sales skills by learning to speak in terms that resonate with my ideal customer profile, the C-suite.
Customer research insights can seem fluffy, but this book helps to tie “emotions” into tangible business cases.
What product or service do you wish existed?
I wish there were better availability and info on kids’ programming and extracurricular activities in my city. You must line up at the physical location or hit refresh every second in an online queue to get a spot in a program.
It’s wild to see how little support there is for finding help and activities for children.
What product are you obsessively using right now?
Glasp
– I use it to highlight webpages, online PDFs and other online documents for research notes
– I’m able to quickly reference sites I’ve visited and find key information I need
Note: This is public, so I only use the tool with public-facing documents, not NDAs or sensitive data.
– I use Rewind to find documents, websites, and recordings I’ve used throughout my day. I love that the data is stored locally.
– My staple tool! I use this when I need to copy text from an image. It’s really helpful for FPO, brainstorming and wireframing content.
What are you bullish on?
With birth rates declining globally, I think solo bars will boom. I first heard about this trend in Japan, where bars, restaurants, and karaoke bars offer solo experiences.
I know several people who choose to be single with no desire to be with anyone in the foreseeable future, so I suspect that people will use these to build their community.
What are you bearish on?
Millennials and Gen Z will rethink quiet-quitting.
During the economic downturn, I’m seeing a trend with recruiters looking for “older”, and more experienced talent because employers are looking for “hard-working” employees.
It’s intriguing because ageism was huge in the tech industry when I was younger, and now that trend has reversed.
Regardless of age, people want to work with companies that empower them to do valuable work.
It’ll be interesting to see what will happen with quiet-quitting.
